The Pawn Duet

Pike

T.M. Frazier has done it again with this amazing story. Mickey and Pike meet on one of the worse days of Mickey's life. A few years down the road they meet again but under vastly different circumstances. While Mickey has plans of revenge of her own, she has stepped on Pike's territory placing herself in his crosshairs. Due to her choices she now has been captured and Pike wants answers now. However, Mickey has other plans as her revenge is to sweet to give up over Pike. As they spend more time as the abducted and abductee, their chemistry is off the charts and their pull get stronger every day. I don't want to put any more as this is a must read story. While you can read this as a stand-alone without reading King series first, the question is why would you want to? I recommend going to book one in that series and starting there, you will not regret it. This is my most favorite series ever and T.M has done it again!! Now on to book two..

Pawn

This was a great wrap up to the duet. There were a couple parts in it that didn't come together for me. However, I absolutely love this author, and will read whatever book she puts out. I loved how Mickey on her road to revenge, really looked at the group she was portraying to have belonged to and really took note of how their negative propaganda really had an impact in the world. She reflected on the lives the group had hurt and damaged, instead of looking through the damage and people with a scientific lens as she had been doing for most of her life.

The grief she endured from losing her family, had broken her spirit. She wasn't afraid to ask for help and seek the mental health help she really needed to help her with that grief. I was happy that her and Pike worked it out and worked together. That Pike allowed her the room to work on her revenge on her own and was there supporting her and having her back.

I also liked the redemption aspect from Percy, where he understood his life path was the wrong one and realized his life of hate was absurd and really reflected on why he felt that way and how it was wrong one.
