This short story pulls at your heart. The anguish both main characters, Sarah and Mindie Sue goes through leaves you heartbroken for them. The story had abuse of their dog, Zoey, who fought relentlessly for her first owner and saved her life. After the dog survived, she was still able to give unconditional love to her new owner and helped her heal. Zoey connects both women and from there they form a bond of friendship that they both needed.
This was such a beautiful story on how a person digs in to find the strength they need to survive. I loved the ending!
